Introducing the HCP Barometer Survey
The HCP Barometer Survey is the first comprehensive and holistic analysis to explore the complexities of the experiences of HCPs working in ophthalmology. Collecting responses from September 2025 until October 2026 in collaboration with a global network of medical societies, the Survey has three main aims:
Evaluate the mental well-being, job satisfaction, and fulfilment of HCPs working in ophthalmology, and quantify the prevalence of burnout
Examine how clinic capacity constraints can affect the ability of HCPs and clinic staff to deliver patient care, and to assess the coping mechanisms and resilience used to manage such constraints
Identify strategies that can be used to help alleviate the issues experienced, and which form the basis of future recommendations
The Survey was designed to be completed anonymously online in 15–20 minutes by practicing HCPs working in ophthalmology who regularly interact with and provide care for patients. Across 51 questions, the Survey used validated and bespoke questionnaires to analyze the complexities of HCP well-being.

What can you expect from the HCP Barometer Survey?
In 2027, we will reveal the findings of the HCP Barometer Survey, facilitating critical discussions within the global clinical community. Following publication of the experiences and needs of HCPs around the world, country- and region-specific publications will be developed. Sub-analyses by specialty, healthcare sector, and professional category will be performed to dive deeper into the unique experiences of HCPs. Stay tuned!

The HCP Barometer Survey has been developed by the HCP Barometer Working Group, a diverse working group of experts, united in the drive to uncover the needs of our retinal community.
